My only problem with the Kpop fandom is so many fans defining what a “real” fan is.
Apparently, I’m not a real KissMe because I don’t miss Alexander and Kibum, and I can’t stand any of their songs before “Man Man Ha Ni”.
This must mean I’m not a real ELF because I don’t miss Super Junior’s Kibum. Some ELF’s (OT13’s) would argue that I’m not a real ELF because I love Henry and Zhou Mi.
I must not be a real af(f)xtion because I’m only a fan of f(x) for Amber and I don’t think Krystal is that talented.
I must not be a real Sone because I don’t like Jessica’s voice.
I must not be a real BlackJack because I don’t think that 2NE1 is the single-greatest girl-group in all of Kpop (I don’t have a single-greatest girl-group).
I must not be a real 4Nia because I cannot STAND Heart 2 Heart.
I don’t like 2AM, 2PM, or DBSK, which means I must not be a real Kpop fan in general.
One of the reasons that I love Kpop so much is because there are so many communities within communities - people shouldn’t be isolated from the communities that they choose and love just because they don’t like/don’t miss a few members or don’t care for a certain era.
s!b: I just KNOW that a bunch of Kpop fans are going to get butthurt after reading this, even with my logic, and get all defensive - and then they’re probably going to say that I’m “not a real fan”.
